CHOLQ'IJ REVOLUTION:
--is a forum meant to be a breeding ground for serious and informed discussion about the mesoamerican 260-day divinatory calendar in all its manifestations.
--is meant to embody the idea of collective participation in the development of cosmic consciousness so that we may facilitate the arrival of the Fifth Sun.
--will not discuss 2012 as a whole (in principle) but will try to put into practice, via the internet, the groundwork necessary to transform our consciousness through mutual teaching about the Cholqij.
--may be the only place where everyone or nearly everyone is trying to become a daykeeper.
--may be the only way an amateur calendar enthusiast can acquire at least an approximate understanding of what the initiated Ajqij can teach without living near a patrilineage or being initiated by the fire.
--will focus on methods and technqiues of divination as well as theories on what the essence of all the various traditions essentially is.
--will be a training center for those of us whom want to bring the sacred calendar to the masses so that we may align ourselves with the natural cycles of our bodies and minds.
--will promote emotional equilibrium through self-knowledge and direct contact with the cosmos by recovering the ancient knowledge of our ancestors that we must reclaim in one united voice, before it's too late.
I have been searching tirelessly for a message board that discussed the 260-day divinatory calendar in a way and with a temperament that it truly deserves. The goal of this project, if it can even be called that, is to have a clean, simple, and elegant place where calendar enthusiasts, Mayanists, daykeepers, traditionalist Ajqij, and anyone with curiosity about the Tzolkin or the Cholqij can create a culture of serious study of the sacred round on our road toward the transformation of consciousness.
One of the reasons I took it upon myself to register, which was no work at all, was my dissatisfaction with online communities like tortuga.org, sacredroad.org, and other now defuct cyber-places (although sacredroad in particular is of special interest to those who want to keep fairly up-to-date with causes of indigenous Guatemalans and messages from the elders.) Although their may have been some merit for many sites in the past for serious and vigorous discussion of the various aspects of the calendar, in many cases, their goal is and was purely political in nature (i.e. dreamspell cults). The approach I would like to take here borders the spiritual and the scientific.
For centuries, the calendar system and its practitioners have eroded, whether due to the Conquest or otherwise, but despite how some non-believers and nay-sayers might feel about this, the simple fact is that the cycle of 260 days continues regardless of the lack or deficiency of human observation.
The calendar is still used in the daily lives of many, but is relegated to the Highlands of Guatemala and obscure patches throughout Mesoamerica. Due to the enthusiastic welcoming of the dawn of the new sun, however misguided or inaccurate previous Western and New Age interpretations may have been, they planted the seed for the reacclamation for a Sacred Calendar of the 21st Century.
I have purposely not talked very much about the calendar itself, nor have I even bothered to mention its most rudimentary facts (i.e. it being the interplay of a 13 and 20 day set of counts repeated infinitely at higher level) or even how our day-sign or Nawal affects us and our life's path. If people don't come and discuss, it will never happen.
A central focus will be acquiring knowledge of the various birth charts, divinatory techniques (Tzite bean sortilege), the construction of paraphanelia for divining and/or counting the days--methods and techniques that would otherwise be out of reach for people isolated from a patrilineage of calendar priests and therefore quite useful for those who have heard the calling of the fire, but have no one to turn to for guidance. We shall pull together our resources and teach ourself what we can and in depth.
The meaning of the individual days, the numbers, the Burner periods, the nine symbol mayan chart, the Night Lords, Year Bearers and everything related to the basics are encouraged discussion material as well. Ceremonial insight, spiritual experiences in relation to the Cholqij are also welcome.
Encouraged is also Mayan life and society, general mesoamerican topics and spirituality, tradition, teachings and so on. Questions and commentary on other aspects of the calendar system in general are obviously of interest, but larger boards usually are full of nothing but that type of discussion. For example, talking about astronomical cycles of Venus, the Sun, and the Moon as it relates to mostly New Age and anthropological research, the Tun/Katun, the 360-day civil year, and the tedious repetition of definitions of what the calendar system is in a general sense, is moreorless an assumed prerequisite for serious Cholqij study.
The focus here is essentially the 260-day period and everything it encompasses. But that being said, anyone with a sincere interest in mastering the Cholqij with other types of questions that need answering--even if they seem out of place--will not be turned away or ignored.
Eventually, once we have a core and knowledgeable constituency, we might work on group projects of understanding certain fields of Ajqijab study, which would develop into tutorials, basic informative material, lists of meanings of the various calendrical divisions (13 x 20, 4 x 65, 5 x 52, 10 x 26) and other, more obscure but important beliefs (the day-chairs of the Mixe and their 26 and 40 day divisions) as well as breaking down the definition and function of certain things that up until now have been largely guess-work for the Western novice (as with regards to the 9 symbol chart, 'la cruz maya,' etc.)
Feel free to talk about anything else: your day in relation to the calendar (go to sacredtime260.ning.com for more on this), personal proofs as to why your day-sign and you are one, books, articles, websites, other boards, and anything else people could think of. The point is to be productive and truly learn so that we may facilitate the passage of this planet to a New Sun, before it's too late.
Yours in the struggle, -Teopiltzin

Considering that this board has only been around for about a week, we have done well. Five members is more than one, so we are off to a good start. I will pose this question: what do the current members think we could do to increase traffic, and especially increase discussion? Any particular topic you all think would strike a chord?
I haven't run out of ideas, but I think me starting all kinds of threads in the future would have a few deficiencies, seeing as they would start from the vantage point of my interests, when it should clearly be about our interests.
A simple thing we could do is that, for every member that reads this, please think long and hard as to either a question you would like to ask about the Cholq'ij or something you would like to share. Doesn't have to be complicated. Just anything, really, to get the ball rolling.
Peace, --Teopiltzin

Greetings to All who gather here. It is refreshing to read and hear dialogue open up once again on the "road."
I, also, think it is "Important To Discuss the Mythic World That We Must dream Into existence," as tojil suggests.
Blessings of Peace and Hope be to All, Prairy

Thank you, Teopiltzin, for preparing a place for us to meet. Hello, Tojil, I am happy you are here. It makes my heart sing. I've joined today IMOX 12 to gather together in thankfulness for this blessed opportunity. My we walk together in harmony that our footprints may lay a path to unity. Don Alejandro shared some knowledge with me but it is just a start. I ask in humbleness for patience for my small understanding of ALL THAT IS, encouragement to move together toward the JOY that awareness will bring and guidance to learn more on my path to wisdom to help Mother Earth, myself and all our relations. I hope to learn and share with you all here for the benefit of all. In love, peace and harmony, Sylvia

In life, it is necessary to die. In death, one lives. As it has been said, we are alive on borrowed time from the Angel of Death. Understanding that our simple-dimention oriented consciousness has prevailed untill this time, we are all here to Converge in Harmony, Welcoming a 'higher', more complex set of dimentions. Light joins us all. The Power of Love exceeds the love of Power. I am Forward Looking to our evolution into our Highest awareness. In Lake'ch

Hello guys. I don't have internet anymore but I will be back online soon. I have many new ideas for future discussion that I would like to share. Maybe in a month or two.
I hope traffic doesn't stall because of my absence.

Thank you for inviting me. I will register when I return.
My sign is 1 E and for me this is so appropriate. My girlfriend's sign was equally accurate, she is an I'x.
I went to a Mayan Fire Ceremony with the Elder Don Carlos Barrios and bought his book... it has all the signs in the back and their meaning. I resonated so highly with mine that I started offering to tell people on the internet and in the real world their signs if they told me their birthdate. I scanned in all the pages with the descriptions and am hosting them on my site. I put the instructions and links to those pages on a synchromysticism forum although I did not go as far as to scan all the charts for birthdates, only 2009-2012. If you know your own symbol you are free to scroll to the bottom and read about those.
Maybe there's a reason you contacted me. An idea that has been brewing in my head is to make a daily calendar (pdf) telling people the symbol of the day. A gregorian calendar with the symbol in each square.
Don Carlos said it was vitally important to live your life by the calendar, by the day, not just by your birth symbol. It may be an interesting project and wouldn't be too hard to do.

Welcome to Cholq'ij Revolution, KindaGamey! You have some great ideas for the future. Perhaps the whole board could pitch in and help where we can in order to make that calendar a reality (pdf.)
I really want to get my hands on Carlos Barrios' 'The Book of Destiny.' I'm actually about to order it now. Two good books on the same subject are 'How to Practice Mayan Astrology,' and 'Jaguar Wisdom: Mayan Calendar Magic.'
Hope to here from you again soon!

Hi, thanks for posting this link on my blog. If it's okay, the URL is jaguarnights.blogspot.com and it has the daily calendar information for the Long Count, Haab and Tzolkin, and also a countdown to 2012. I'm glad that you've banned talk of 2012 from here. I am tired of it. I have been studying the Tzolkin for 20 years and I never cared about 2012--it's the media and those who know nothing who are making it important. Gevera Bert Piedmont Ix Mahel, Ek Penpen

I haven't necessarily banned talk about 2012 on this forum. What I have done is tried to create a place where real preparation for 2012 can be sought without talk about the end of time or extended discussion about the Long Count (which is what people mostly talk about on other forums). It's the beginning of a new age. By then, the world needs to learn the Cholq'ij. It's not a matter of life and death, but it will have a deep affect on the course of our lives. 2012 is the year of destiny.
Welcome to Cholq'ij Revolution. Btw, I like your site.
