You just did that bit of Mayan 'astrology' on yourself thanks to Tolpiltzin's request as to "why?" "Why not 3:30? I says. 'Hardly anyone ever says I have one night under the stars'". In Jose Arguelles' book the Mayan Factor, I came up with a possible classifactory scheme. We are in Baktun 13 Katun12 10 BEN or something like that. I'm 4 Kan (South Winds Facing South) 5 Tzec. My question is that the Sacred Day Signs-- Do they alternate in each 20 year period? I might not be Kan if this be the case. How do you assign the Gregorian number of days in a month to the 18 day signs in Tzolkin. And what is Vayeb? Thanks in advance. My sponsor is an Ix sign; the sorceror. Best Intent crowstandingarrow

My benefactor of a man named Larry Montiel was born on 1-reed 1952. on September 15th. Believe you , me he's a 1 Reed for he looks exactly like Hernan Cortes. I wonder what Mayan day sign is ours like 1-Men or 4 -Akbal. I want to see where we fit in the cosmic scheme of things. My knowledge is only lyric knowledge Indian brother. There's no need for me to stay on with the Cholq' ij. Peace to you Brother Tolpiltzin

I do not know of any converter that could do what you're asking. Any other questions you have can be answered accordingly. Why do you want the Gregorian date for 1-Reed?

Possibly could you give me the Mayan Calendar date Year -1. Or Reed-1 I do not have that web page that converts our Calendrical dates into Mayan Time. Please hook me up! I chose Reed 1 because it is the year Hernan Cortes' marked the arrival to Mexica. They will know that we are Toltecs by our blood I says. So please, sir please Teopiltzin I'm new to your Pro Board. Contact me at greenriverknight@hotmail.com and give me general instrutctions. Thanks

Happy birthday tojil! I hope the nine mayan spirits give you many blessings on 4 Muluc! 4 Muluc also marks twenty days until 11 Muluc, which is the midpoint of my burner periods. It is the void and mystery in my life.

I haven't necessarily banned talk about 2012 on this forum. What I have done is tried to create a place where real preparation for 2012 can be sought without talk about the end of time or extended discussion about the Long Count (which is what people mostly talk about on other forums). It's the beginning of a new age. By then, the world needs to learn the Cholq'ij. It's not a matter of life and death, but it will have a deep affect on the course of our lives. 2012 is the year of destiny.
Welcome to Cholq'ij Revolution. Btw, I like your site.

Hi, thanks for posting this link on my blog. If it's okay, the URL is jaguarnights.blogspot.com and it has the daily calendar information for the Long Count, Haab and Tzolkin, and also a countdown to 2012. I'm glad that you've banned talk of 2012 from here. I am tired of it. I have been studying the Tzolkin for 20 years and I never cared about 2012--it's the media and those who know nothing who are making it important. Gevera Bert Piedmont Ix Mahel, Ek Penpen

There's a website http://mayandailyinsights.com that gets into a deep spiritual interpretation of each day, its pretty cool. You can also get a birthdate profile that is specifically for you - it goes past your birthdate but also looks at your spiritual path in relation to that day.

Re: A Few Questions On Maya Divination « Result #16 on Nov 13, 2009, 3:49pm »
The most popular form of Maya divination in the Western world is that which was propitiated by Barbara Tedlock in her book Time and the Highland Maya. This is the Momostenango method in which the days are read through counting tzite seeds in rows in columns from left to right. The days that "speak" are the ones that coincide with the speaking or jumping of the diviner's blood. Also, the last day in the count is taken as an omen for the client's future.
There is another method that does not need the speaking of the blood. It is the Ixil method of divination. It is much easier than the Momostenango method because it makes no use of the lighting in the blood. The seeds are still counted horizontally from the top left corner. But the far right column of days are called the "speaking days." These days are woven together to create a story that characterizes the situation. Of course, the question influences the situation. Two arrangements of seeds are read. One for the diagnosis and the other for the prescription.
I don't know exactly what the meaning of mnemonics are for the Ixil method, which is discussed in the book Daykeeper: Life and Discourse of an Ixil Diviner. I use the Momostecan mnemonics to weave the story together. If anyone's interested, I can post information about the divinatory meaning of the days from the book Jaguar Wisdom which uses the mnemonics similar to those published by Barbara Tedlock.

Welcome to Cholq'ij Revolution, KindaGamey! You have some great ideas for the future. Perhaps the whole board could pitch in and help where we can in order to make that calendar a reality (pdf.)
I really want to get my hands on Carlos Barrios' 'The Book of Destiny.' I'm actually about to order it now. Two good books on the same subject are 'How to Practice Mayan Astrology,' and 'Jaguar Wisdom: Mayan Calendar Magic.'

Thank you for inviting me. I will register when I return.
My sign is 1 E and for me this is so appropriate. My girlfriend's sign was equally accurate, she is an I'x.
I went to a Mayan Fire Ceremony with the Elder Don Carlos Barrios and bought his book... it has all the signs in the back and their meaning. I resonated so highly with mine that I started offering to tell people on the internet and in the real world their signs if they told me their birthdate. I scanned in all the pages with the descriptions and am hosting them on my site. I put the instructions and links to those pages on a synchromysticism forum although I did not go as far as to scan all the charts for birthdates, only 2009-2012. If you know your own symbol you are free to scroll to the bottom and read about those.
Maybe there's a reason you contacted me. An idea that has been brewing in my head is to make a daily calendar (pdf) telling people the symbol of the day. A gregorian calendar with the symbol in each square.
Don Carlos said it was vitally important to live your life by the calendar, by the day, not just by your birth symbol. It may be an interesting project and wouldn't be too hard to do.

The 13 Numbers « Result #19 on Nov 12, 2009, 8:18am »
The nawales never appear separate from one of the thirteen numbers, or spirit protectors. They are signs in and of themselves. They influence the interpretation of any particular day. It has been called the tone that alters the meaning of the nawal. The first few numbers are "gentle" while the high numbers are "violent." The middle numbers, those in balanced equilibrium, are said to be neutral. Ceremonies are usually done on these neutral days so that we may have a tranquil life. Odd numbered days are said to be chaotic and creative while even numbered days are more favorable because they are balanced.
